A little about me: Nicol

My name is Nicol Tran and I am a physiotherapist with a love for exercise, active living and enjoying the moment.

I graduated from the University of Ottawa with a BSc specializing in Human Kinetics and MSc Physiotherapy. My love for learning didn’t stop there because I consider myself a serious nerd for learning anything physiotherapy and exercise related. I have since taken various courses in movement screenings, dry needling, functional range conditioning, pain science and gotten my certificate in sports physiotherapy.

This helps me work with sports teams on and off the field, athletes, active movers and anyone that wants to move better. Some sports I have worked with include football, hockey, soccer, rugby, tennis, track and field, etc. Recently, I took my CrossFit Level 1 coaching course to better my skills athletically and professionally in CrossFit. Did I mention I love working with athletes?

“I want to bridge the gap between rehabilitation and performance”

Athletically, I have done a little bit of everything. My main sports growing up were curling and swimming but I enjoyed soccer, field hockey and running recreationally. Currently, I have been focusing my time on Crossfit, bouldering and skiing but I have been dabbling in golf, volleyball and softball. The more sports I can learn about, the better! Any other free time, I find myself being the biggest nerd and reading about anything physiotherapy and sports, and most recently, learning to train our puppy!

STARTING NEW FORM PHYSIO.

I was looking for a way to better serve the community. There is a gap between physiotherapy sessions and sports, activities and meeting our goals. I wanted a platform to let people know we can fill that gap! There are ways to gain confidence in your body and feel 100% but it takes commitment from both the therapist and the patient.

WHAT TO EXPECT

My sessions include a comprehensive movement assessment that looks at the whole body followed by a hands-on treatment, education and an exercise program. My goal is always to empower my patients to control their pain, move better and gain strength. The more we know about our bodies, the more we can control them. This system goes for maintenance (preventing injury) and injury assessments.
